After entering the festive period in a rich vein of form, our overseas contingent have started 2026 with plenty more eye-catching displays.
While some players enjoyed some time off over Christmas, Ethan Brookes began his tournament in the Bangladesh Premier League and all-rounder Ben Dwarshuis continued his exploits in the Big Bash over in Australia.
Catch up on all the latest updates below…
Gareth Roderick – Green Point CC (South Africa)
Gareth’s side played one further game before the Christmas break, where Green Point’s tough run continued as they fell to a four-wicket defeat to Brackenfell CC. Opening the batting, Gareth suffered a rare failure as he was dismissed for one, in his side’s total of 89 all out.
He will look to return form in the Western Province Club League Premier Division this weekend as Green Point CC face off against Cape Town CC.
Dan Lategan – MI Cape Town (South Africa)
Since the start of the tournament, Dan is yet to feature in the SA20 for MI Cape Town.
He has continued to train with the side whilst they continue their search for a first win in the competition.
Ben Dwarshuis – Sydney Sixers (Australia)
Ben has continued to play a prominent role for the Sixers since our last update, where his side have experienced some mixed fortunes.
The seamer went wicketless during a seven-wicket defeat against the Melbourne Stars on Boxing Day, but saw his form improve as he collected two important wickets in a comfortable victory over the Melbourne Renegades just a few days later.
Yesterday, Ben was once again on the winning side as he recorded figures of 2-25 from his four overs, as his Sixers outfit chased down Brisbane Heat’s total of 114 with three wickets in hand.
Ethan Brookes – Sylhet Titans (Bangladesh)
Ethan has been a regular fixture in the Bangladesh Premier League so far this campaign, featuring in every game for his side as they have made their way to third in the table, after winning three of their opening six matches.
After suffering defeat in the opening game of the tournament, Ethan helped his side snatch a thrilling one-wicket win by taking a catch in the field, before coming in to bat at number seven and blitzing 16 off 13 balls, with his two boundaries helping the Titans to a nerve-jangling last-ball victory.
Ethan produced another important cameo in the following game, where his 13 runs off just six balls helped the Titans defend 173 and secure a tense six-run victory, before producing his best performance to date with a composed 30-ball-32 and a wicket (1-13) in his side’s loss to Rangpur Riders.
A heavy nine wicket defeat to Chattogram Royals was followed up by comfortable six wicket win in the side’s most recent game, where Ethan took another catch whilst featuring alongside former Worcestershire and England star Moeen Ali.
Ben Allison – Altona North CC (Australia)
Over the Christmas break it was confirmed that Ben will be joining up with North Altona Cricket Club, for the duration of the Australian season.
This is not the first time the Melbourne based club have welcomed a Worcestershire player, having played host to Tom Taylor just last year.
Ben will begin his preparations with his new side over the coming days.
