Overseas player update: Playing contingent continue to impress

Published 22/12/2025

With the festive season in full swing here at Visit Worcestershire New Road, our players away on various assignments across the world have continued to spread their cricketing cheer!

With plenty of action happening far and wide, Worcestershire fans will be happy to hear there is lots to report on as our players enter the festive period in a fine run of form!

Henry Cullen – Woodville CC (Australia)

Henry Cullen has been back in action with Woodville in South Australia, featuring in three matches since our last update.

While opportunities with the bat have been limited, there have still been some very notable moments.

In a First Grade Division One two-day fixture against Kensington, Henry once again flirted with a century, continuing an agonising run of dismissals in the nineties.

Batting confidently, he struck a fluent 90 from 113 balls, including 15 fours, before being caught at second slip. Despite his efforts, Woodville were unable to turn the match in their favour, falling to a 185-run defeat after Kensington had earlier declared on 426-8.

Cullen then featured in a T20 clash against Glenelg, where Woodville were beaten by 42 runs. He contributed nine runs from 11 deliveries in a shortened stay at the crease.

Ben Gibbon – Sturt CC (Australia)

Ben Gibbon has played twice for Sturt since the last update, contributing with the ball across both red and white-ball formats.

In a West End One Day Cup clash against Port Adelaide, Gibbon delivered a full 10-over spell, returning an economic spell to finish with figures of 0-59. Despite Sturt posting a competitive 278-9, Port Adelaide successfully chased the target with five wickets in hand.

Gibbon was back in action in First Grade Division One cricket against Tea Tree Gully, where Sturt secured a four-wicket victory. Bowling in the second innings, Gibbon claimed one wicket, finishing with figures of 15-3-67-1 as Tea Tree Gully were dismissed for 202. Sturt then chased down the target with four wickets to spare.

Gareth Roderick – Green Point CC (South Africa)

Gareth Roderick’s excellent form has continued in South Africa’s Western Province Club League Premier Division, even if results have not gone his side’s way.

In a fixture against WPCC, Gareth produced a high-quality, top-order innings of 86 from 86 balls, striking 12 fours and a six. Chasing 256, his side were eventually bowled out for 163, with Roderick’s innings the standout despite a 93-run defeat.

He followed that with a composed 39 from 53 balls opening the batting against Rylands CC. For the second match in succession, however, his efforts were in vain as his team fell short once again, this time by 45 runs.

Ben Dwarshuis – Sydney Sixers (Australia)

Newly re-signed Ben Dwarshuis, who will join the club for the 2026 Vitality T20 Blast, is currently featuring in the KFC Big Bash League with Sydney Sixers.

The Sixers have endured a challenging start to the tournament, losing their opening match to Perth Scorchers by five wickets in a rain-reduced contest. Defending just 113, Dwarshuis impressed with the ball, taking two wickets and finishing with figures of 2-36.

In their second outing, the Sixers were beaten by three wickets by Adelaide Strikers, with Dwarshuis again among the wickets, returning figures of 1-39.

Most recently, although ending wicketless, Dwarshuis played his part as the Sixers secured their first win of the campaign, defeating local rivals Sydney Thunder by 47 runs.

Dan Lategan – South Africa

Dan, has returned to full fitness following a minor injury picked up while playing for Durbanville CC. The rising star has now resumed training and has linked up with MI Cape Town ahead of the upcoming SA20 tournament.

He is in contention for selection for MI Cape Town’s opening fixture of the competition, where they host Durban’s Super Giants at Newlands on Boxing Day – an exciting time as Dan looks to make an impact on the franchise stage for the first time.

Ethan Brookes – Bangladesh

Since starring in the recent Hong Kong Sixes, Ethan has earned himself a deal to play in the Bangladesh T20 Premier League (BPL) for the upcoming season.

He will be representing Sylhet Titans, playing alongside former Worcestershire captain and England star Moeen Ali for the duration of the competition, which commences on Boxing Day.
