Playing Squad Winter Update

Published 24/10/2025

Worcestershire County Cricket Club Head Coach, Alan Richardson, this week provided an update on the members of the playing squad who are travelling overseas this winter.

2025 was a memorable season for those involved at Visit Worcestershire New Road, with the Rapids crowned Metro Bank One Day Cup Champions after a mesmerising 50-over final victory at Trent Bridge in September.

Despite narrowly missing out on securing the club’s Division One status in the Rothesay County Championship, preparations for next season are already underway.

With opportunities for various members of the squad presenting themselves across the off-season, Head Coach Alan Richardson emphasised the importance of his players taking chances in new environments.

“This time of year always provides an excellent opportunity for a number of our playing squad to continue their growth and development overseas in new and testing environments.

“Many of the players have been away before, with some returning to clubs where they have previously enjoyed really beneficial stints.

“For others, it is a chance to build on the back of a positive summer here in Worcestershire and embrace the challenges of playing in new surroundings.

“Not all of our group are going abroad for the winter, with the remainder of the squad beginning their preparations for 2026 here at home.

“We will be monitoring their progress throughout, but we are all keen for them to maximise the opportunity and hope they come back energised for another big year.”

Player Update:

Gareth will be heading back to Cape Town, South Africa, where he will be playing his club cricket for Green Point CC. Alongside playing, he will be coaching in Western Province and later offering some coaching assistance for MI Cape Town in the SA T20.

Henry Cullen

Having secured promotion with the club last summer, Henry, will be heading back for a second stint with Woodville Cricket Club, in Adelaide, Australia.

Ben Gibbon

Ben will be playing for Sturt Cricket Club, also based in Adelaide, where he will look to continue his bowling development in the same competition as Henry Cullen.

Dan Lategan

On the back of a breakthrough summer for Worcestershire, Dan will be returning home to Cape Town for the duration of the winter, to take up his contract with MI Cape Town in the SA T20. Whilst away, Dan will also be representing Durbanville Cricket Club.

Kashif Ali

Although yet to be confirmed, Kashif is hopeful of a return to Pakistan this winter to represent Ghani Glass Cricket Club.

Isaac Mohammed

Isaac will be travelling to the Caribbean with England Young Lions, as part of the U19s Youth One Day International series against West Indies and USA. With the World Cup on the horizon in the early stages of 2026, Isaac is hopeful of continuing his fine recent form.

Additional player updates:

Although not yet confirmed, the club are hopeful that Ben Allison, Adam Finch and Matthew Waite can secure deals to continue their season preparations and play overseas at the start of 2026.

The remainder of the playing squad who are not travelling to play overseas will be continuing their preparations at Visit Worcestershire New Road throughout the close season.
