Rapids Women Duo Depart on short-term professional deals

Published 03/07/2025

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids can today confirm that duo Ruby Davis and Phoebe Brett have signed short-term professional contracts and will depart with immediate effect.

Davis, a top-order batter who has impressed with a recent season-best score of 69 during the Rapids’ first T20 win of the season, heads out to join Somerset.

Meanwhile, Brett, is taking an opportunity to step-up into the Bears senior squad, having previously been a member of their Academy.

Both players, who have enjoyed a successful recent run of form for Worcestershire, will join up with their new teams in the coming days.

Despite the moves ruling them out of contention for Sunday’s clash with Northants, Head Coach Ed Wilson says the opportunity for his players is too good too miss.

“I think it’s a massive positive that we can create an environment where players can get recognised for professional cricket through playing for Worcestershire.

“It has been a very quick process, as these things are, but everyone at the club is delighted for them to get such exciting opportunities.

“Although the girls will be a miss, it presents a fantastic opportunity for other members of the squad to come in and stake a claim.

“It is essential we stay focussed on the job at hand and don’t lose focus of putting all our efforts into beating the Steelbacks, this Sunday.”

Everyone at the club wishes them the best of luck. 🩵
