The defence of our Metro Bank One Day Cup trophy will kick off with a home fixture against Derbyshire Falcons on Friday, 24th July, 2026.
After clinching a thrilling victory at Trent Bridge on one of the most magical days in the club’s history, Worcestershire were inducted into the history books last summer by claiming a first List A trophy in 18 years.
Defeated finalists that day, Hampshire, will be our opponents at Visit Worcestershire New Road for the second game of the group stage, on Sunday, 26th July.
Our 50-over competition continues on the road for game three, where we take on Yorkshire, at York, before both Men’s and Women’s sides return home to celebrate “Blue for Bakes” weekend in our respective home matches against Middlesex, on Friday, 31st July and Kent Spitfires Women on Sunday, 2nd August.
Further Men’s away games follow against Essex, Sussex and Glamorgan, before we round off the group stages by hosting Durham, on Tuesday, 11th August.
Our Women’s side will be looking to start their campaign with a bang when they open their 2026 account with an away fixture against Sussex Sharks Women on Sunday, 19th April.
Clare Boycott’s Worcestershire side then welcome Leicestershire Foxes on Sunday, 3rd May in their opening 50-over home fixture of the season.
Eager to kick-on from the positive end to 2025, the Rapids Women can also look forward to fixtures against Northants Steelbacks Women, Glamorgan Women and Middlesex Women, before their group stage is brought to a close with a home match against Gloucestershire, on Sunday, 6th September.
The top Men’s team in each group progresses directly to a home semi-final. The second and third-placed teams from either group meet in a quarter-final (August 14th) to earn the right to reach the semi-finals (August 16th).
In the Women’s competition, the top four counties at the end of the group stage will progress to the knockout stages. The winners of the two semi-finals (September 13th) progress to the final (September 20th).
The final of the Men’s competition will once again be held at Trent Bridge, whilst the Women’s showpiece event will be taking place at The Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol, both on Sunday, 20th September.
After helping guide the Rapids to Metro Bank One Day Cup glory last year, Men’s Head Coach, Alan Richardson, says his team are full of positivity leading into the 2026 tournament.
“Everyone involved at the club will remember how special the competition was last year, so naturally the whole group will be really excited to get started in the 50-over tournament when it comes around next year.
“The entire club bought into it last year and made it a very special month, so hopefully we can play some good cricket again and give our supporters something to cheer about.”
Worcestershire Rapids Women’s Head Coach, Ed Wilson, is counting on his team to show more of the encouraging signs that were on display towards the latter stages of the 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup.
“We showed exactly what we can do in moments throughout last year, with a couple of really impressive wins, so we know as a squad heading into next year how important it is we show our best from the outset in the One Day Cup.”
