Worcestershire wicket-keeper batsman Alex Milton is having a match to remember for Cardiff MCCU in the MCC Universities Championship encounter with Durham MCCU at Usk Cricket Club.
Milton heads into the final day of the three-day fixture unbeaten on 80 in Cardiff’s second innings out of 230-6 – an overall lead of 150.
Cardiff MCCC captain Milton, who is batting at number four, has so far struck 12 boundaries in his 117 ball innings.
Milton, who signed his first professional contract with Worcestershire last summer, had top-scored with 57 from 87 balls with nine fours in Cardiff’s first innings of 189 all out.
Then, when Durham batted, he was also in good form behind the stumps in claiming five catches.
The visitors secured a first innings lead of 80 after making 269 and looked well on top after reducing Cardiff to 162-6 in their second innings.
But Milton was given support by DA Douthwaite who blasted an unbeaten 51 off 32 balls in a stand so far worth 68.
Milton will link up with Worcestershire for the remainder of the summer once he has completed his university commitments.
But he will not be available for the Seconds Trophy semi-final with Middlesex on June 15 as it coincides with University T20 finals day at Loughborough.
