HAYNES HITS TWO FIFTIES AND BROWN IN FORM AS SECONDS SECURE FIRST T20 WIN

Jack Haynes hit two half centuries as Worcestershire Seconds registered their first win of the season in the T20 competition against Northamptonshire at Kidderminster.

Haynes made exactly 50 off 33 balls with two sixes and four fours in Game One which Northants on by eight wickets.

But his 52 from 43 balls with seven boundaries in Game Two propelled the Seconds to a six wicket success.

Captain Pat Brown warmed up for the Vitality Blast with impressive figures in Game Two.

Brown, the leading wicket-taker in the country in the Blast last summer, returned figures of 3-15 from his four overs.

In Game One, Worcestershire opted to bat and made 135-8 in their 20 overs.

They were 49-3 in the 10th over before Haynes added 65 for the fourth wicket in six overs with Alex Milton (22 off 19).

An unbeaten 81 from Ben Curran helped Northants to victory in 16 overs.

George Rhodes, who took the new ball, had figures of 4-0-19-1 and Brown 3-0-26-1 while Adam Finch bowled three overs for 17 runs.

In Game Two, Northants were put into bat and totalled 138-9 in their 20 overs.

Brown opened the bowling and claimed the first wicket and returned to pick up two more scalps including Curran who top-scored with 36.

Finch (4-0-26-2), Rhodes (4-0-32-1), Jacques Banton (2-0-18-10 and Ed Bragg (3-0-25-1) were the other wicket-takers.

Openers Tom Fell (28) and Milton (16) put on 44 in six overs for the Seconds and a fourth wicket partnership of 56 in seven overs between Haynes and Rhodes (25 not out off 21 balls) ensured victory.
