BPL ROUND-UP: CULLEN HITS HIGHEST SCORE OF SEASON AS WARDENS TRIUMPH

Henry Cullen hit his highest score of the season in the Birmingham and District Premier League to lead Kenilworth Wardens to a five-wicket victory over Wolverhampton.

The Worcestershire keeper-batter struck 88 as Kenilworth chased down a revised target of 217 in 41 overs to win under the Duckworth Lewis Method.

Opener Cullen’s 115 ball knock contained 11 boundaries and he featured in a third wicket stand of 105 with Ali Zaryab (50).

He surpassed his previous best BPL knocks of 2023 – 85 versus Moseley and 80 against champions Smethwick.

Cullen was eventually fourth out with the total on 184 but Kenilworth triumphed with one ball to spare.

Earlier, Academy player Reeve Evitts had taken 2-43 in a Wolverhampton total of 237 all out from 48.4 overs.

Taylor Cornall was again amongst the runs for Ombersley in their 218 run triumph over Shrewsbury.

The opener’s 125 off 140 balls was his third BPL century of the summer after his 186 not out versus Knowle and Dorridge and 126 not out against Barnt Green.

He is currently the BPL’s leading run-scorer with 895 at an average of 74.58.

Cornall put on 286 for the first wicket with Rizwan Hussain (160) and he hit three sixes and 11 fours as Ombersley totalled 341-5 from 48 overs.

Shrewsbury were then bowled out for 123 in only 25.1 overs.
