WORCESTERSHIRE PLAYERS LOOK TO THE FUTURE WITH COACHING PLANS

Several Worcestershire players are already looking to the future by taking their coaching badges.

All-rounder Joe Leach is striving to achieve Level Three qualification and batter Jake Libby and spinner Josh Baker Level Two status.

Obtaining such coaching skill levels – and higher – can only be of benefit should they look to pursue a career in that direction after hanging up their spikes.

Worcestershire Assistant Head Coach, Kadeer Ali, believes becoming qualified while still playing is the ideal scenario.

He said: Some are doing Level Three courses, some are doing Level Two, and they are utilising October and the winter as best as they can.

“Jake and Josh are trying to obtain Level Two and Joe Level Three.

“The best time to do it is while you are playing, and I also think it helps your game as well.

“You pick up little things you might have missed, and it gives you little reminders of your own game sometimes.

“That is how I felt when I did my Level Two and Level Three. It is brilliant for the lads to do as well.

“Hopefully people play for a long, long time but it is a good thing to get under your belt for the future.”
