EXPERIENCE OF DIVISION ONE CRICKET ACROSS WORCESTERSHIRE SQUAD

Worcestershire will be able to call upon several players next season who have already experienced County Championship Division One cricket.

Nine members of their squad have previously played in the top division – including newcomers Rob Jones, Tom Taylor and Ethan Brookes.

It adds up to nearly 150 appearances in total as Worcestershire prepare for the challenges of next summer after gaining promotion from Division Two.

Opener and Worcestershire’s 2023 leading run-scorer, Jake Libby, has played 33 times at top level.

He is followed by Joe Leach (24), Jones (22), Taylor (20), Club Captain Brett D’Oliveira (20), Adam Hose (14) and Matthew Waite (12).

Adam Finch featured in three matches on loan at Surrey and Brookes made a single Division One appearance for Warwickshire.

Many players also appeared in the four-day Bob Willis Trophy during the 2020 pandemic season and the Championship three divisions of six teams structure of 2021, which featured a mixture of Division One and Two teams.

Head Coach Alan Richardson said: “There are quite a few guys who have played Division One cricket – Brett, Jake, Joe etc plus the new lads.

“There are enough guys there who have been in and around it, and understand it. Any experience we get is vitally important as long as we use it as a real positive for us.”
