Gareth Roderick hit another half century to move past 600 runs for the second winter running as he skippered Green Point CC to a 65 run win over Cape Town CC in a Western Province Premier Division fixture.
The Worcestershire keeper batter came to the wicket at 56-2 and put on 135 for the third wicket with Aiden van Wyk (73).
Roderick struck 67 off 76 balls with three sixes and four fours to take his run tally to 633 from 14 innings at an average of 52.80 with one century and six fifties.
He has already surpassed last winter’s aggregate of 620 runs in 16 innings at 47.70 with six half centuries.
Green Point totalled 248-5 from 50 overs after electing to bat and then Cape Town were bowled out for 183 in 45.2 overs.
It was their 11th win in 17 games and they remain in fifth position.
Ed Pollock was also amongst the runs for leaders St. George CC with a rapid 72 off just 57 balls in a five wicket win over Campbelltown Camden CC on day two of a New South Wales Premier Cricket fixture.
Opener Pollock was quickly into his stride with two sixes in an over from Luke Courtney.
He put on exactly 100 for the second wicket with Blake Macdonald (44) and in all hit four maximums and seven fours before he was lbw to Henry Railz.
Pollock’s latest fine knock in a consistent winter played a major part in St. George chasing down a 282 target in 72.5 overs.
Josh Baker’s side, Northern District CC, went down by four runs to Penrith CC on day two of a New South Wales Premier Cricket encounter.
Baker had returned 19-7-38-3 with the ball on day one and Penrith were bowled out for 140 in 62.4 overs.
But Northern District also found runs hard to come by and Baker, batting at number six, was dismissed for two as his side fell just short on 136 all out in 58.4 overs.
Adam Finch was on the winning side for Sturt CC who triumphed by nine wickets on day two of the South Australia Cricket Association Premier Cricket meeting with Prospect CC.
Sturt declared on their overnight 269-2 – a lead of 197 – and Finch made the first breakthrough in Prospect’s second innings in dismissing Connor Prior (3) with nine on the board.
He ended with figures of 10-3-28-1 as Prospect were bowled out for 250 top leave Sturt with a modest 54 target which they knocked off in 5.2 overs.
Ethan Brookes spent day one of Prahran’s Victorian Premier Cricket first grade match with Geelong in the field.
Worcestershire’s new signing took one catch but did not bowl as Geelong were dismissed for 265 in 78.5 overs.
Brookes will have the opportunity to bat next weekend when Prahran resume on 32-1 from eight overs.
Joe Stanley’s fine all-round performance was in vain as Railways CC went down by 31 runs to Collingwood Park in a Albany and Districts Cricket Association A grade game.
Stanley came on first change and finished with 3-32 from 10 overs.
His scalps included Cameron Jones (30 off 88 balls) who led a partial recovery for his side from 28-5 to 176 all out from 49.1 overs.
Stanley then top-scored after opening with 73 off 118 balls before he was fifth out at 120-5.
But Jones ripped through the middle order and finished with 9-0-30-3 as Railways were bowled out for 145 in 45.3 overs.
Reeve Evitts, a century-maker the previous week, had figures of 7-0-44-1 for Keilor CC on day one of the Victorian Turf Cricket Assoociation fixture with Sydenham Hillside who closed on 296-7 from 70 overs.
