Spinners Flora Bertwhistle and Phoebe Brett shared twelve wickets between them for Worcestershire Women’s Rapids who completed an ECB County Championship T20 Group Two double over Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire at Geddington.
The two resounding victories have lifted Worcestershire to third in the table with 41 points from six games, six points behind leaders Shropshire.
In Game One, Cambridgeshire were put into bat by returning Rapids captain, Chloe Hill, and were dismissed for 65 in 17.1 overs.
They reached 35-1 but then lost nine wickets for 30 runs in 10 overs with Bertwhistle (4-0-13-4) and Brett (4-2-2-3) doing most of the damage and there was also one wicket apiece for Jess Beach and Clare Boycott.
The Rapids reached their modest target in eight overs thanks to 45 not out from Chloe Hill who faced just 23 balls and hit one six and seven fours.
Game Two followed a similar pattern with Northamptonshire put in and bowled out for 61 in 19.3 overs.
Brett picked up three of the first four wickets to fall after taking the new ball in reducing Northamptonshire to 21-4 and she finished with 4-1-6-3.
Bertwhistle also took her overall wicket tally for the day to six with 4-0-16-2 and Amy Maund, Charlotte Roberts, Beach and Boycott had one scalp apiece.
An unbroken stand of 60 for the second wicket between Boycott and Bryony Gillgrass saw the Rapids over the finishing line in exactly 10 overs.
Boycott ended unbeaten on 33 from 34 balls with six boundaries while Gillgrass was 29 not out from 25 deliveries with four fours.
