Spectator Guide: Worcestershire vs Kent

We are looking forward to welcoming spectators to Visit Worcestershire New Road from 10am Thursday 22nd to Sunday 25th August for the Vitality County Championship fixture against Kent.

This fixture is our Red Ball Festival of Cricket with lots of extra activities for all ages.

This fixture has been proudly sponsored by BEARD.

Match Tickets

Tickets for this fixture are available in advance of each matchday for £10, or on each day of the fixture for £19. It is free entry for juniors.

 

Hospitality

Our popular BEARD Terrace is open for hospitality on Day One and Three of the game with Kevin Sharp and Ashley Giles joining as guest speakers. Enjoy breakfast, a hot lunch, cake and unlimited tea & coffee from the best view in the house. Book here.

Entry into Visit Worcestershire New Road

Ticket holders can enter Visit Worcestershire New Road through either the main turnstile entrance through the main reception in the View Building or through the gates next to the Graeme Hick Pavilion.

Upon your arrival at either gate, your bags may be checked by our trained security team.

Red Ball Festival of Cricket Activities

There is something for everyone to enjoy at this game. On Thursday the focus will be on juniors with  junior history/ground tours (10am & 3pm) along with quiz and colouring sheets, plus inflatables and cricket games in Scoreboard Square.

On Friday there will be further ground tours (10am and 3pm), an opportunity for picnics on the pitch – lunch hampers available here (on 22nd, 23rd and 24th) – and a talk from Head Groundsman Stephen Manfield during lunch.

There is another ground tour on Saturday (10:45am) as well further opportunities for lunch and games on the outfield, as well as the annual memorabilia market held in the Chestnut Marquee.

Club partners Pluxee will be running games and activations in Scoreboard Square on Thursday and Friday while there is an opportunity to hear from Kevin Sharp (Thursday) and Ashley Giles (Saturday) in our popular BEARD Terrace hospitality venue. 

Worcestershire Cricket Foundation activities

On day two, Worcestershire Cricket Foundation will be hosting a walk & talk, starting at 9am outside main reception. It will be leisurely walk where people can get some exercise and talk about anything from cricket to everyday life, and a match ticket for the day’s play is included.  You can sign up here.
Worcestershire Cricket Foundation will also be hosting a game of walking cricket on the outfield during lunch on day two which is free for anyone to join.

BY CAR

From north: From the M5 junction 7 follow the cricket stumps on the road signs to the ground. From south: from M5 junction 7 follow the cricket stumps on the road signs to the ground. From east: from A422, Alcester, continue on this road to roundabout junction with A4440 (Swinesherd Way), take second exit at roundabout on to A44, continue to follow the A44 and it will lead you to New Road, the county ground will be on your left. From west: from A44, Evesham, stay on A44 (east) and it will lead you to New Road, the county ground will be on your left.

Car Parking

A limited amount of car parking is available at New Road on a first come, first served basis priced at £10 per day or £5 for Worcestershire members. 

We have added a new parking link, to the top right hand corner of our website. Parking for members is available 48 hours prior to matchday and non-members 24 hours prior.

The entrance for all spectator parking is situated on the hotel side of the ground, and the car park will be open from 9.30am.

BY BUS

Once you are in Worcester city centre’s bus station that is beneath the Crown Gate Shopping Centre, walk out of the station, turn left, continue to walk straight ahead to a pedestrian crossing, walk across this and another pedestrian crossing, continue across the bridge over the Severn River and you will arrive at the county ground on your left.

BY TRAIN

Worcester Foregate Street is the closest train station to the county ground and is approximately 0.5 miles from the ground. To get to the county ground from Foregate Street station, turn left out of the main entrance, head towards the cross where you turn right onto Broad Street. Continue straight, across two pedestrian crossings to get to the other side of New Road, walk over the bridge, and you will shortly arrive at the cricket ground on your left.


Food & Drink


Graeme Hick Pavilion – Worcestershire members will also be able to buy drinks and a selection of food in the Tom Graveney Lounge of the Graeme Hick Pavilion.

The Severn Suite – Open from 10am serving pies, pasties, baguettes, Dinos Dogs, tea, coffee plus a full bar.

Catering Wagons – Serving breakfast baps and burgers and chips. 

Ladies Pavilion – Open from 2.30pm serving tea and cakes.

Ice Cream Pod – Will be open from 12pm each day, if weather permitting.

Diglis Bar – will open from 12pm.


Official Club Shop

Located next to the Grounds Hut at the rear of the Basil D’Oliveira stand, our Official Club Shop is open on all match days stocking a wide range of Worcestershire merchandise, including the latest training and leisure wear. 

Gifts for supporters of all ages are also available amongst the wide range available.

Public Wi-Fi

Free public Wi-Fi is available throughout New Road, which you are very welcome to use at your leisure. Connect to The Cloud from the available list of wireless networks and follow the sign-in or login instructions.

Scorecards

Scorecards are available in all members areas and in the Club Shop. They are free for members and £1 for everyone else.

Toilet Facilities

Ample male, female, inclusive and accessible toilet facilities are located and well-signposted in various locations around the ground. Baby changing facilities are available in the Basil D’Oliveira Stand, Cafe, and the Graeme Hick Pavilion.

Smoking Policy 

Smoking of cigarettes or electronic cigarettes is only permitted in the designated areas (by the entry to the player’s nets and the car parking area at the rear of the ladies’ pavilion/marquee). Smoking is not permitted on the grassed picnic area or behind the Basil D’Oliveira Stand. 

Smoking is also prohibited in any building or under any permanent structure.

Accessibility Information

Blue Badge Car Parking is available at Visit Worcestershire New Road for all games when parking is available preceding each match. – Please note that car parking has sold out for this fixture.

Accessible and wheelchair-access seats are available in all areas of the ground. These can be reserved on a first-come-first-served basis when selecting an allocated seat.

To ensure that spectators with accessibility needs are catered for, the Club has five fully trained Disability Inclusion Officers working during all fixtures. In addition, the Club has a number of safeguarding officers present whose role is to ensure the welfare of all spectators and help everyone enjoy their experience at New Road to the maximum.

Sensory Kits

Sensory packs for supporters with additional needs will be available at Visit Worcestershire New Road.

The sensory packs have been designed to improve the matchday experience for supporters at the stadium, with the Club committing to becoming a more friendly environment for supporters with additional needs.

The pack, which comes complete with the following items, have been designed to make the matchday experience more accessible, comfortable and enjoyable for all supporters.

  • Fidget popper
  • Noise cancelling headphones (optional)
  • Fidget spinner
  • Coloured Pencils
  • Colouring book

The sensory packs can be collected from the main reception area during all fixtures, are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and are to be returned to reception following the conclusion of the fixture. 

Hidden Disability Lanyards

We provide yellow lanyards for anyone with a hidden disability. These can be collected free of charge from the Graeme Hick Pavilion or main reception. Our stewards will be on hand to support and assist with any needs.
