Worcestershire pace bowler Jack Home has flown out to South Africa for a training camp with England Young Lions (Under-19s) – but Head Coach Alan Richardson says he has already been reaping the benefits of a series of sessions at Loughborough this winter.
Home has been working with the Young Lions coaches and players in the 18 strong squad during several meet-ups at the National Performance Centre since the end of last season.
He signed a three-year contract at Visit Worcestershire New Road after several impressive performances last summer in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Richardson believes Home will reap the rewards of the trip to Stellenbosch in terms of his development as a player.
He said: “Jack has already benefitted from the Under-19s experience even before he has gone away to the training camp.
“He has been at Loughborough working quite a bit with Neil Killeen, Glenn Chapple and Michael Yardy.
“Jack has been tapping into those guys, had the opportunity to bowl on grass in the tent there.
“Just moving forward, he is going to be surrounded by some really good people, whether it is players or coaches, and have an amazing opportunity.
“Jack has a really infectious enthusiasm about him and he will really enjoy it.
“He will come back with some real good experiences behind him, I’m sure, which will all be part of his development and his journey.”
Shrewsbury born Home was part of the Worcestershire Academy for four years before making his senior breakthrough this summer.
