BROOKES PART OF ENGLAND SQUAD FOR HONG KONG SIXES

Worcestershire all-rounder Ethan Brookes was part of the England squad which competed in the Hong Kong International Sixes.

Brookes, who enjoyed a successful first season at Visit Worcestershire New Road, was selected in a seven strong squad which also included former Worcestershire all-rounder, Ed Barnard.

The 23-year-old, who was voted Worcestershire T20 Player Of The Year for 2024, played in four of the six matches.

His best performance with the bat came when he struck 35 not out off just eight balls, with fives sixes, against Australia.

Brookes was also a regular member of the attack in the six overs per side competition in which no-one could bowl more than two overs in an innings.

England lost their two Pool B matches against Nepal and Australia but reached the final of the competition for teams who finished third in their group, before losing to Oman.

They defeated India, with Brookes England’s second most economical bowler, and New Zealand, when he picked up one of the two Kiwis wickets to fall.

The other members of the England squad were captain Ravi Bopara, keeper Alex Davies, Samit Patel, James Coles and Jordan Thompson.
