ACADEMY LEAD TABLE HEADING INTO CHAMPIONSHIP FINALE

Worcestershire Academy (Under-18s) are holding an eight-point lead at the top of the ECB Under-18 County Championship Group Two heading into Tuesday’s final encounter with nearest rivals Gloucestershire at North Parade, Bath.

The 12 strong squad includes four players who have made their senior debut for Worcestershire this summer.

Olly Cox and Harry Darley were part of the side for Friday’s T20 match against New Zealand at New Road and impressed in scoring 63 and taking two wickets respectively.

Rehaan Edavalath played in the home LV=Insurance Championship fixture versus Derbyshire, and Cameron Jones was bloodied in the Metro Bank One Day Cup game versus Somerset at Taunton.

The Academy are looking to defend their title in the three-day competition, after winning three and drawing two of last season’s matches.

They are also through to the final of the ECB Under-18 County Plate and will face Surrey in the final on September 3 at Kibworth CC.
