Anderson plays major role for Women’s Rapids in 50 over triumph

Ellie Anderson produced a significant contribution with bat and ball to help Worcestershire Women’s Rapids overcome Dorset Women by 106 runs in a ECB Women’s County Championship 50 Over Group Three match at Bromsgrove CC.

The England Under-19 player first scored 52 off 60 balls with seven boundaries before she was last out to help the Rapids total 210 after they had been put into bat.

Then Anderson produced a deadly burst with the new ball and picked up the first three wickets to reduce Dorset to 26-3.

Her opening spell produced figures of 7-2-9-3 as Dorset were bowled out for 104 in 38.3 overs.

There were other major roles played by Imogen Hill, with a half century, and Charlotte Roberts and Flora Bertwhistle with the ball.

It was the Rapids third win in four matches in the competition.

Rapids captain, Clare Boycott, made 26 before the was second out at 48 and then Bryony Gillgrass (27) and Hill added 57 for the third wicket.

Hill was eventually fifth out for a 55 ball 52 with five boundaries at 143-5 but then Anderson lifted the total past the 200 mark.

After her deadly burst with the ball, Roberts (7-2-20-3) and Bertwhistle (7-2-18-3) pressed home the advantage before Boycott took the final wicket.
