CAMERON JONES AMONGST WICKETS ON DEBUT DOWN UNDER

Worcestershire pace bowler, Cameron Jones, and 2022-2023 Academy captain, Joe Stanley, impressed on their debuts in the Albany and District Cricket Association ‘A’ grade competition.

Jones, who made his senior Worcestershire debut last summer in the Metro Bank One Day Cup match against Somerset at Taunton, played for Collingwood Park and ended with three wickets.

He took the new ball but enjoyed his success in the latter part of the innings, taking three of the four last wickets, and ending with figures of 8-0-38-3 as opponents Manypeaks totalled 193-9 in their 45 overs.

Jones, who appeared for England Young Lions against Ireland Under-19s at Loughborough in August, also opened the batting and was dismissed for five but his side appeared on course for victory after reaching 127-2.

But then the last eight wickets fell for 26 runs and they were dismissed for 153 in 33 overs and went down by 40 runs.

Stanley came on second change for Railway and had figures of 9-0-22-3 as Mount Barker Bulls were bowled out for 129 in 37.5 overs.

He then played the crucial role with the bat after coming in at 21-2 and finished unbeaten on 49 as Railway reached 130-8 to win by two wickets.
