The four Worcestershire players taking part in this year’s Bunbury Festival will receive their caps from England’s record Test run-scorer.
Alastair Cook is handing out the caps for the 33rd festival which gets underway today at Felsted School in Essex and runs until August 9.
It will be a proud moment for Rehan Edavaleth, Harry Cooke, Ollie Walker and Reeve Evitts who are all part of the Worcestershire academy-pathway.
They will be competing for the Midlands side in the four-team tournament – and this year’s ICC World Cup triumph is a reminder of what Bunbury selections can go onto achieve.
For TEN of England’s World Cup winning squad were once part of the Bunbury’s.
Cooke, who still plays for Essex after retiring last year from international cricket, will also be talking to the participants about what it takes to become a top class cricketer.
The Bunbury Festival showcases the skills of 56 of the most talented England Under-15 players in the country and more than 60 have gone onto represent England.
It is a second successive call-up for batsman-off spinner Edavaleth who along with Evitts is a member of the full Worcestershire Academy 2018-2019 intake.
Malvern College pupil Edavaleth, who plays for Barnards Green, joined the academy pathway three years ago and was a member of the County’s Staffordshire satellite academy.
All-rounder Evitts, a pupil at John Taylor High School, Burton, was also previously a member of the Staffordshire satellite academy.
Walker is a top order batsman and right arm medium bowler who plays for Beacon Cricket Club.
Cooke is a middle order batsman and right arm seamer who attends Shrewsbury School, plays for Shrewsbury CC and is part of the Shropshire satellite academy.
