worcestershire went down by 114 runs after hampshire claimed the final two wickets on the third morning of the specsavers county championship match at New Road.
the county were eventually dismissed for 133 in 41.5 overs.
a total of 40 wickets went down for 620 runs in the seven sessions of play in seamer friendly conditions.
worcestershire were in contention for long periods of the game but hampshire’s trio of international class pace bowlers in kyle abbott, dale steyn and fidel edwards helped them over the finishing line.
worcestershire resumed on 120-8 and a cover-drive for four by wayne parnell off steyn brought up the 50 partnership with ross whiteley.
the 10th ball of the day – and first of the morning from abbott – bowled whiteley the innings top score of 37.
parnell was joined by pennington and the last wicket pair held out for another nine overs.
the game was eventually ended when parnell on 26 nicked steyn through to jimmy adams at second slip.
abbott, who took a hat-trick yesterday, finished with figures of 14-4-39-6 while steyn returned 3-41.
worcestershire claimed three bowling bonus points from the game.
next up for the home side will be visit next week of current leaders surrey in the first championship match at New Road between the sides since ‘jack shantry’s match’ in september 2014.
