DONATIONS COME FLOODING IN AS COUNTY LAUNCH WEEK LONG ‘RAPIDS RELAY’

worcestershire ccc players and coaches have done the county proud on the opening day of the week long ‘rapids relay’ to raise funds for acorns children’s hospice.

donations have been pouring in all day as players and staff covered around 140 kilometres in 12 one-hour running sessions.

the aim is to cover nearly 1,000 kilometres in seven days in aid of the local acorns charity and the generosity of members and supporters means £3,973 had already been donated by 8pm this evening.

the distance being covered mirrors the number of kilometres involved travelling to venues in the rapids vitality blast north group via, in this order, warwickshire, lancashire, durham, yorkshire, nottinghamshire, derbyshire, leicestershire, northamptonshire then back to New Road.

the participants are using their permitted exercise time as part of the government lockdown for covid-19 in aid of this worthy cause before handing over to the next player in a relay system operating from 8am to 8pm each day.

the full list of participants in running order today was: joe leach, charlie morris, adam finch, josh tongue, jack haynes, dillon pennington, alex gidman, daryl mitchell, chloe hill, camilla henderson, ed barnard and josh dell.
