FELL LOOKING TO BUILD ON HALF CENTURY AFTER HARD WORK PAYS OFF

an encouraging aspects for worcestershire rapids of their weekend royal london one-day cup encounter with local rivals warwickshire was the form of batsman tom fell.

he registered his first half century of the 2019 campaign and looked in excellent touch as part of a second half of the innings fightback by the rapids.

now fell will be looking to kick on from sunday’s knock when the fourth placed rapids entertain unbeaten north group leaders nottinghamshire tomorrow (wednesday).

first team coach alex gidman said: “felly has been working extremely hard. a lot of the time people don’t see the work that is being put in behind closed doors.

“he knows he has missed out on a couple of occasions and i wasn’t really surprised that he performed like that (against warwickshire).

“he has been moving really well and striking the ball beautifully in the nets.”

callum ferguson will make his first appearance since returning to New Road at the weekend as the county’s main overseas player for 2019.

the australian batsman will feature in place of the now departed hamish rutherford who scored three centuries during his short spell with the county.

it is the only change to the squad that was selected for the warwickshire game.
