FIREWORKS FROM ACADEMY OPENER INGRAM IN COUNTY CUP MEETING WITH LOCAL RIVALS

Lucas Ingram produced an explosive knock for Worcestershire Academy in their ECB Under-18 County Cup round two meeting with Warwickshire at Portland Road, Edgbaston.

The opener hit 96 off only 71 balls with six sixes and 12 fours.

He dominated partnerships of 49 with ollie Walker and 41 with Luke Powell before he was fourth out with the total on 125.

Fin Goodman provided some late acceleration after coming in at number seven, striking 55 off 31 deliveries with three sixes and seven fours.

Captain Joe Stanley (31) also weighed in with useful runs in a total of 258 all out in 41.4 overs after he had elected to bat.

Stanley then made an early breakthrough with the ball and at 114-4 the game was in the balance.

But 155 not out off 118 balls from Kai Smith powered the home side to victory in 37.2 overs.

Toby Cox (6-1-34-2), Ciaran Baker-Smith (5.2-1-26-1) and Stanley (10-0-53-1) were the Worcestershire wicket-takers.

*The Academy are back in action tomorrow (Wednesday) when they take on Prince Alfred’s College from Adelaide, Australia in a 45 over encounter at Kidderminster CC.

Stanley will again captain the side with Luke Powell keeping wicket.
