Former England spinner Geoff Miller will be the guest speaker of the Worcestershire Cricket Society at their next winter cricket evening on Tuesday, December 10 in the Graeme Hick Pavilion (7.30pm start).
Miller, a former National Selector as part of a panel also containing current Worcestershire CEO Ashley Giles, will be making a return visit to Visit Worcestershire New Road after first appearing as a Society speaker six years ago.
He enjoyed a successful first class career which brought him 888 wickets at an average of 27.98 and more than 12,000 runs as a useful lower middle order batter.
Miller played 34 Tests and 25 ODIs between 1976 and 1984 and his most successful series was the 1978-79 Ashes when he was leading wicket-taker with 23 victims.
He also held onto the final catch which earned England a memorable three run win in the 1982-83 Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne.
Miller, the Cricket Writers Club Young Cricketer Of The Year in 1976, played for Derbyshire from 1973-86, including a three season spell as captain, and he returned there in 1990 to finish his career after a spell with Essex.
He was appointed National Selector by the ECB in 2008 as part of a panel consisting of Ashley Giles, Peter Moores and James Whitaker.
He was awarded the OBE in 2014 and, after retiring from his England selectorial duties, has become a popular after dinner speaker.
