Worcestershire pace bowler, Ben Gibbon, is closing in on the knockout stages of a THIRD competition this winter for Willetton CC.
The left armer, and his teammates, have already competed in the latter phase of the Western Australia Cricket Association T20 and One-Day Cups.
Now they are well placed to qualify for the Elimination Finals of the first grade Two-Day tournament, with the top six qualifying.
Willetton are currently in the third spot with three rounds remaining, having won eight of their 11 matches, including one outright in which they bowled the opposition out twice.
Gibbon has picked up 14 wickets in seven first grade matches at an average of 19.79 and has figures of 72.2-16-277-14.
Willetton are next in action this weekend when they begin a two-day game versus Bayswater-Morley.
Keeper-batter Henry Cullen’s side, Plenty Valley, are facing an uphill task to qualify for the knockout stages of the Victoria Cricket Association competition with four matches remaining.
They are currently occupying the 10th position, with the top six going through from the group.
Cullen remains Plenty Valley’s leading run-scorer despite two noughts in three knocks since the resumption of cricket after the Christmas-New Year break.
He is also top of the averages and has scored 476 runs at 52.89.
Dillon Pennington and Taylor Cornall are looking to inspire an upturn in fortunes for Adelaide CC.
They are currently bottom of the 13-team South Australia Cricket Association Premier Cricket first grade with no wins in seven matches.
They have also lost their opening two games in the One-Day Cup despite Cornall’s superb 155 against Northern Districts at the weekend.
