worcestershire 2018 overseas player martin guptill’s side, barbados tridents, are in danger of not qualifying for the knockout stages of the caribbean premier league after their latest setback.
the tridents went down by eight wickets to guyana amazon warriors in the early hours of today.
it was their fourth successive defeat and leaves them occupying bottom spot in the six-team table with four points from seven matches.
they are three points adrift of the fourth qualifying spot with just three group matches remaining.
guptill, who played eight vitality blast matches for worcestershire rapids, was dismissed for eight before 40 from former county t20 player, steve smith, helped the tridents total 165-7.
but guptill’s new zealand team-mate, luke ronchi, struck and unbeaten 67 off 40 balls as the warriors reached their target in 16.4 overs.
