Callum Lea and triallist Josh Breed led a Worcestershire Seconds recovery with the bat against a strong Warwickshire side on day one of the Championship meeting at Barnt Green.
The pair came together at 101-6 after Worcestershire had elected to bat and put on 105 in 27 overs for the seventh wicket.
Lea made 78 off 119 balls with 11 boundaries and Breed 59 from 104 balls with nine fours.
Brinder Phagura, who had some outings for the Seconds last summer, and Ari Karvelas then added 41 useful runs for the 10th wicket.
Worcestershire were eventually bowled out for 277 in 77.4 overs and earned three batting bonus points.
Earlier, former Leicestershire and Sussex batsman Angus Robson had made 21 batting at number three.
Club captain Joe Leach came in at 34-3 and made a quickfire 29 off 24 balls before he was caught at point.
Craig Miles finished with 5-45 and the other wicket-takers were Ryan Sidebottom (2-46), Will Rhodes (1-33), Liam Norwell (1-40) and Oliver Hannon-Dalby (1-49).
When Warwickshire replied, openers Rhodes (51 not out) and Dominic Sibley (35) put on 93 before the latter was lbw to Adam Finch.
Leach bowled an initial five over spell and ended the day by sending down four more overs as he finished with figures of 9-1-21-0 as Warwickshire closed on 98-1 from 26 overs.
But heavy overnight rain left the ground saturated today (Wednesday) and play was abandoned for the day during the early morning.
