Worcestershire Rapids will be without opener Daryl Mitchell for the finale of their NatWest T20 Blast North Group campaign against Derbyshire Falcons at the 3aaa County Ground tomorrow evening.
The 33-year-old suffered what Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes described as a “little hamstring aggravation” whilst bowling during Wednesday’s T20 Blast clash with Lancashire Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford.
Mitchell has scored 208 runs at an average of 26.00 and taken five wickets with an economy rate at 7.60 and is placed third in Worcestershire’s batting and bowling averages.
He will now be concentrating on striving to be fit for the finale of the County’s Championship campaign and is Worcestershire’s leading run-scorer in red ball cricket.
All-rounder George Rhodes has replaced Mitchell in the 12 strong squad to take on the Falcons.
Mitchell Santner will be making the final appearance of his current spell with Worcestershire.
The New Zealander has been a model of consistency with the ball and conceded only 16 runs in his four overs against Lancashire.
The Rapids will be looking to end a disappointing T20 Blast campaign on a high note and have defeated Derbyshire in the One-Day Cup and Championship at the 3aaa County Ground this summer.
But they were beaten in the T20 Blast meeting between the two sides at New Road.
