MOEEN AND MULTAN STILL TOP AFTER RAIN COMES TO RESCUE

Moeen Ali and his Multan Sultans team-mates still top the Pakistan Super League as the weather intervened to earn them a point against Karachi Kings in Lahore.

Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast captain was the only one of his side’s front-line batsmen to show any form before the elements had the final say.

Moeen was pushed back to the top of the order and dominated his time at the wicket.

The 32-year-old made 29 off 22 balls before he was second out with the total on 37, caught in splendid fashion at mid off by Chris Jordan off Aamer Yamin.

Moeen had shown his power in hoisting Mohammad Amir for six over mid wicket and collected boundaries off Yamin via a cut shot and Jordan over mid off.

After his dismissal, the Sultans nose-dived to 64-6 before some late hitting by Shahid Afridi – 35 not out of 17 balls – lifted them to 102-6 from 16.5 overs.

The Sultans have taken nine points from their opening six matches – two more than second placed Islamabad United who have played a match more.
