Dillon Pennington will climb the next rung on his recovery ladder after injury by playing for Worcestershire Seconds in today’s (Thursday’s) T20 double header with Warwickshire Seconds at Stourport CC.
The paceman made his first appearance since suffering a foot injury during training in April for his club side Shrewsbury last weekend and bowled four overs in a Birmingham Premier League fixture.
The 20-year-old is also set to appear for the Shrews this Saturday – along with club captain Joe Leach and all-rounder Ed Barnard – before returning to Seconds action against Northamptonshire next week.
Pennington will form part of a pace attack which also includes his England Under-19s team-mate, Adam Finch, and Pat Brown.
Brown, the County’s Vitality Blast bowling hero last summer, will captain the side in the two games which get underway today at 11.30am and 3pm.
Pete Clark, who skippered the Worcestershire Under-17s side in the Royal London County Cup last week, and Ed Bragg – also part of that team – have been named in the Seconds line-up.
A strong looking batting line-up includes Worcestershire professionals Ollie Westbury, George Rhodes, Brett D’Oliveira and keeper Alex Milton.
