ROB JONES CYCLING FROM LONDON TO PARIS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR PCT

New Worcestershire player, Rob Jones, is switching to pedal power as he strives to complete more than 400 kilometres to raise funds for the Professional Cricketers’ Trust.

Jones will be cycling from London to Paris, spread over three days in aid of the PCT, beginning on Tuesday (October 10).

It is the third such event that Jones, who has moved from Lancashire on a three year contract, has participated in.

He previously pedalled from Headingley to Lord’s and also took part in the Three Peaks Challenge involving Mount Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis.

The Trust was created to support the life-long health and wellbeing of past and present cricketers and their immediate families.

Jones said: “The PCT look after the well-being of anyone past and present that has been a professional cricketer.

“When times get really tough for people, they are there to help and it is an amazing charity.

“This is the fifth such event the PCT have done and this is my third. It is a really worthwhile cause.

“I’ve been doing loads of running, and I feel really fit. I’ll be absolutely fine.

“James Bracey (Gloucestershire) and Jordan Clark, who I played with at Lancashire and Dan Worrall (now both Surrey) are also amongst those taking part.”

Jones and the other riders will pedal 149 kilometres from The Kia Oval to Portsmouth on Tuesday which is World Mental Health Day.

They will catch the overnight ferry and cover a further 145 kilometres on the following day to Evreux.

A final 124 kilometres stretch on Thursday (October 12) will take the riders into Paris and along ther Champ Elysees before ending close to the Eiffel Tower.

It is a grand total of 418 kilometres and anyone wanting to make donations can click here.
