RODERICK CHALLENGING FOR MOST DIVISION ONE DISMISSALS

Worcestershire keeper-batter Gareth Roderick’s impressive form has lifted him into second spot for the most dismissals behind the stumps in Division One of the Vitality County Championship this season.

Roderick’s stunning catch to dismiss Shane Snater, away to his left, during the win over Essex at Chelmsford, lifted his tally of scalps, for the 2024 campaign, to the 40 mark in 11 games of Championship cricket.

It was the seventh dismissal of the match for the 33-year-old who is in his fourth season at Visit Worcestershire New Road.

Only Surrey and England keeper Ben Foakes (42) is ahead of Roderick heading into the final three games of the summer.

It is the fifth time that Roderick has picked up 40 or more dismissals in a season but first time in Division One.

His most productive campaign was with Gloucestershire in 2015 with 55 catches in 16 games.

Ollie Robinson (Durham) and James Rew (Somerset) with 37 dismissals apiece are next in line.

Rob Jones sharp fielding in the slip cordon means he is in joint fourth spot for the most catches in Division One.

Jones has held onto 14 chances – the same as Lancashire’s Keaton Jennings – with only Essex’s Simon Harmer (23), Warwickshire’s Rob Yates (22) and Nottinghamshire’s Calvin Harrison (19) having taken more.
