Worcestershire keeper-batter Gareth Roderick capped a fine season by winning four awards when the club staged their Gala Awards Evening in the Chestnut Marquee.
The opener lifted the Graveney Players’ Player Award, the Dick Lygon Award for contributions on and off the field, the Supporters’ Association Player of the Year and the Cricket Society Moment of the Season Award.
Roderick has formed an excellent opening partnership in Vitality County Championship cricket with Jake Libby, hitting two centuries, four fifties and more than 400 runs in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Behind the stumps, he finished with the most dismissals in the One Day Cup – 23 – and second placed in the County Championship behind Surrey’s Ben Foakes with more than 40 scalps.
He has also played in every competitive match, comprising 14 Championship, 14 Vitality Blast and nine One Day Cup encounters.
Libby paid tribute to the achievements of his opening partner.
He said: “Keeping and opening the batting is very tough, and he has done a great job all year.
“Gareth has scored consistently in all formats, had a very good One Day Cup, and showed he could play in the T20 as well.
“I’m good mates with Rodders. I’m really pleased with his success over the past couple of years, and we have always known what a quality player he was.”
Ethan Brookes enjoyed a successful first season after his move from Warwickshire and was voted T20 Player Of The Year.
He finished as the Rapids’ top scorer with 315 runs and also played an increasing role with the ball.
Clare Boycott won the Women’s Rapids Player Of The Year Award For the third running.
She captained the side for the majority of the season in theabsence of Chloe Hill and played a key role in the Rapids finishing in the top three of the ECB T20 and 50 over competitions.
Boycott made her senior debut for Worcestershire in 2008 and has clocked up more than 200 games for the county.
Chloe Hill said: “Clare has been a consistent performer for Worcestershire over many, many years, and congratulations on winning the Player Of The Year award again.”
Spinner Phoebe Brett lifted the Young Player award for the second successive season after picking up 18 wickets across the two formats.
The Kenyon Award went to Matthew Waite after his spectacular assault against Birmingham Bears in the Vitality Blast.
Waite hit 34 off the final over of the Rapids innings, including five sixes, from George Garton.
It followed on from him returning the best ever Blast figures by a Rapids bowler – 5-21 – against Leicestershire the previous evening.
Keeper-batter Seth Essenhigh won the Damien D’Oliveira Academy Player Of The Year award.
He scored two centuries for the Academy, came within two runs ofhis maiden Seconds hundred against Middlesex, and scored his maiden half century for England Under-19s against Scotland after his call-up for the Tri-Series at Loughborough.
Tom Taylor, who enjoyed an excellent second half of the season with bat and ball in all formats, was voted Fans Forum Fielder of the Year.
Head of Finance Sarah Gluyas lifted the David Exall Award after her sterling service during the past eight years.
She is now leaving her role, and everyone at the club wishes Sarah all the best in the future.
