Worcestershire Women’s Rapids spinner Sarah Glenn produced a deadly mid-innings spell to propel England Women towards a 42 run victory over Pakistan Women in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup today.
Glenn returned her best T20I figures to date with a splendid return of 3-15 from her four overs at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
She came into the attack straight after the initial powerplay and bowled her overs in one effective spell as Pakistan were dismissed for 116 in 19.4 overs.
It sealed back to back wins for England after the defeat against South Africa in the opening game.
Glenn struck with her third delivery which hit the leg stump of opener Javeria Khan (16) at 39-3.
Iram Javed (4) went for an expansive drive in Glenn’s second over and was also bowled.
Glenn picked up her third success in her final over as Omaima Sohail (7) sliced the ball on the off side and Sophie Ecclestone held onto a swirling catch in front of point.
It surpassed Glenn’s previous best T20I figures of 3-28 against Australia Women in the recent Tri-Series.
Anya Shrubsole, 3-25 including her 100 T20I wicket, Ecclestone (2-12) and Katherine Brunt (2-32) were also amongst the wickets in a thoroughly professional performance.
