Worcestershire Seconds prospered with the bat against a strong Glamorgan Seconds attack on the opening day of the three-day encounter at Monmouth School.
Ollie Westbury, Jack Haynes and Josh Dell all hit half centuries as Worcestershire totalled 249-2 off 90 overs after captain Alex Milton had opted to bat.
Lukas Carey, Timm van der Gugten and Michael Hogan formed part of the Glamorgan attack with all three of them having played in this season’s Specsavers County Championship match with Worcestershire at Cardiff.
But, after the start was delayed for rain, Westbury and Haynes batted through 26 overs to reach 62-0 by lunch.
Haynes, who made his Specsavers County Championship debut against Northamptonshire last week, completed a 105 ball half century with seven fours.
But the England Under-19 player added only one more run before he was lbw to van der Gugten with 101 on the board in the 39th over.
Westbury reached his fifty off 123 balls with four boundaries and he moved onto 70 before he was run out with the total 134-2.
His knock of 70 spanned 161 deliveries and contained seven fours.
Dell was joined by Milton, who returned to the Championship side against Northamptonshire, and the third wicket pair batted for the remainder of the day.
They have so far added 115 in 37 overs with Dell unbeaten on 74 (164 balls, eight fours) and Milton 45 not out (104 balls, three fours) before bad light halted play.
