Seconds win twice in T20 wam-ups

Worcestershire Seconds warmed up for the ECB T20 competition with a double success over Oxford UCCE at Stourport-on-Severn,

In Game One Oxford UCCE were restricted to 138-8 with Adam Finch removing one of the openers and then picking up three wickets in the 18th over – all clean bowled.

Tom Taylor took the new ball in his first action since he suffered knee and shoulder injuries in a Seconds game in early April and he completed his full four over quota.

Academy player Ben Clarke removed two of the first three in the batting order and then Chris Ellison,  a member of the Under-18 pathway who plays for league cricket for Pershore, picked up two middle order wickets.

Finch finished with 4-1-25-4 and Clarke and Ellison identical figures of 3-0-17-2.

Ed Pollock raced to 82 not out from 38 balls with six sixes and eight fours as Worcestershire reached their target in 12.3 overs.

He put on 46 for the first wicket with Olly Cox (25) and 76 for the third with Ethan Brookes (28).

In Game Two Worcestershire batted first and totalled 209-7 in 20 overs.

After a quickfire 34 from opener Dan Lategan, Pollock (38 off 24 balls) and Rehaan Edavalath (also 38 off 24 deliveries) added 67 for the fourth wicket.

Cox came in at number six and smashed an unbeaten 65 from 28 balls with six sixes and three fours.

Clements made the first breakthrough for Worcestershire and then Brookes claimed the next two scalps.

Ellison again made inroads into the middle order and enjoyed even more success as the off spinner finished with excellent figures of 4-0-15-4.

Brookes (3-0-22-3), Clarke (3-0-32-1) and Clements (3-0-26-1) were the other wicket-takers as Oxford UCCE closed on 170-9.
