Yadvinder Singh registered his first five wicket haul for Worcestershire Seconds on the final day of the rain hit Second Eleven Championship match with Leicestershire Seconds at Kibworth.
Worcestershire’s recent signing returned the excellent figures of 7.3-1-16-5 as Leicestershire, who resumed on 61-2, were bowled out for 120 in their first innings.
Eight wickets fell for 59 runs in 16.3 overs during the morning session.
Singh had also picked up six wickets during the win over Gloucestershire Seconds at Kidderminster in the opening game of the season.
Ben Gibbons made the first breakthrough of the day when the left armer trapped Harry Swindells (43) lbw.
Harry Darley (11-3-21-3) then picked up the next two wickets before Singh mopped up the remainder of the innings as the attack made good use of bowler friendly conditions.
Three of Singh’s victims on day four were lbw and he held a return catch for another.
When Worcestershire batted, Rehaan Edavalath continued his promising start to the 2024 season.
The opener had scored 72 for Loughborough University in a three-day match against Kent and was the chief contributor to Worcestershire’s total of 168-6 before rain again intervened after tea.
Edavalath batted for more than three hours in making an unbeaten 56 off 131 balls with four boundaries.
He added 63 for the third wicket with Olly Cox who struck a quickfire 39 off 31 balls with three sixes and two fours while Ismail Mohammed made a breezy 23 off 28 deliveries.
Worcestershire collected 11 points from the game – eight for the draw and three bowling points.
