Worcestershire spinner Fateh Singh continued his wicket-laced spell in Australia with four wickets for Canterbury CC on day one of their Eastern Cricket Association first grade game with North Balwyn Bulls.
New Worcestershire signing Singh ended with figures of 22.3-7-94-4 in a total of 283-7 declared from 73.3 overs to take his wicket tally to 16 in his last four appearances.
He came on first change and bowled four different spells with all of his victims in the top six.
Singh first entered the attack for the sixth over and dismissed opener Louis Macciocca (3) in his second over.
Number three Jamie Shepherd (23), number five Amrit Basra (24) and number six Elliott Brandon-James (102) also fell to Singh.
In addition Singh also caught another century-maker in number four Nitesh Patel (101).
Canterbury were left six overs batting at the end of the day and closed on 11-1 with the game to be concluded next weekend.
Harry Darley struck with the new ball for Ulverstone on day one of their Cricket North West first grade encounter with Burnie Hurricanes.
Darley broke through with his fourth delivery to remove opener Daniel Riley (2) and delivered a six over spell of 6-0-22-1.
The Hurricanes closed on 68-3 from 24 overs in reply to Ulverstone’s 200 all out from 69.1 overs after they elected to bat in another fixture which will be completed on March 1.
Ed Pollock spent the day in the field for St. George (309) after his first day century the previous weekend and they defeated Randwick Petersham (223) by 86 runs in a New South Wales Premier Cricket first grade fixture.
It was a similar scenario for Henry Cullen after his first day 78 for Woodville (337-8) who overcame East Torrens (248) by 89 runs in a South Australian Cricket Association Premier Cricket first grade meeting.
Cullen did hold onto two catches as East Torrens were bowled out in 69.5 overs.
Green Point captain, Gareth Roderick, was also not required to bat as his side chased down a modest 75 target in a Western Province Premier Division encounter.
Roderick claimed two catches as opponents Kraaifontein were bowled out for 74 in 21.3 overs and Green Point achieved victory in 15.1 overs, their second successive win after four defeats on the trot.
Kashif Ali is unavailable for Ghani Glass’s final first class game against Water And Power Development Authority in Karachi because of a sore groin.
He had been his side’s top scorer for the opening six games after taking on the opening role before suffering the setback.
