TAYLOR CHASING MORE TROPHY GLORY AFTER PICKING UP THREE WICKETS

Worcestershire all-rounder, Tom Taylor, is chasing more silverware with Altona North in the Victorian Cricket Association first grade competition.

Taylor played a key role in Altona winning the VCA T20 tournament in mid-week with victory over Deer Park in the final.

But more honours could be on the way with Altona top of the first grade tournament with Taylor also making his mark.

They are 12 points clear of second placed Sunshine CC after a 39 run success over Altona Roosters in their latest fixture.

Taylor chipped in with a useful 21 off 19 balls with three boundaries batting at number four in a total of 212-8 from 40 overs but it was with the ball that he made the biggest impact.

He finished with figures of 8-2-24-3 as the Roosters were bowled out for 173 in 39.1 overs.

Taylor made the first breakthrough in his second over after taking the new ball in clean bowling Nadeera Thuppahi.

He then struck twice in the space of three deliveries when he came back into the attack for a third spell at the end of the innings.

Taylor dismissed Nathan Pobega and Matthew Short in the 37th over with the total on 171 as Altona wrapped up an eighth victory in 12 games.

Opener Ed Pollock and keeper-batter Henry Cullen will end their respective spells with St. George CC and Woodville CC next weekend after day two of their current fixtures.

Pollock has been in fine form but was dismissed for a first ball duck in his side’s New South Wales Premier Cricket first grade meeting with Sutherland who ended day one on 41-1 in reply to 219 all out.

Cullen, who has been a consistent performer in the South Australian Cricket Association Premier Cricket first grade competition, was lbw for six as Woodville closed day one on 29-4 in reply to Northern Districts 246 all out.
