Worcestershire all-rounder and new signing Tom Taylor is showing some small improvements with the shoulder injury he suffered during a collision with pace bowler Ben Gibbon.
Taylor sustained the setback in the clash with Gibbon, who suffered concussion, after taking a catch off his own bowling in the Second Eleven match with Gloucestershire at Kidderminster.
He was unavailable for the opening Vitality County Championship fixture against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.
Richardson said: “His shoulder is not too bad. We are seeing some small improvements. It is very difficult to put a timescale on it at the moment.
“We just had a bit of a chat and we are hopeful in the next couple of weeks we will some improvement, and see where we get to.
“Pleasingly Ben Gibbon has passed the majority of his concussion protocols now so he will be back playing cricket soon.”
Club Captain Brett D’Oliveira came through the draw with the Bears after suffering a dislocated shoulder at the tail-end of last season.
Richardson said: “For Dolly, it is really important that he is out on the park and really important for the players that he is, but we don’t want to compromise his health.
“He really pushed himself at the end of last season and he is in a better place now.
“It could take a little bit of time to be exactly where he would like to be, but he got through at Edgbaston brilliantly well and led the boys brilliantly well.”
