Worcestershire Academy keeper-batter Joe Porter kept a cool head to steer the Midlands to a five wicket win over South and West in a 50 over encounter at the ECB Bunbury Festival at Loughborough.
Porter came to the wicket at 124-4 with still 62 required for victory after the loss of two quick wickets.
But he ensured there were few alarms in securing victory in adding 50 for the fifth wicket with Omaris Khan (28).
Porter went onto to remain undefeated on 28 from 46 balls with three boundaries as the Midlands triumphed with 8.5 overs to spare.
He plays his club cricket for Pedmore CC and was part of the Worcestershire Sub Academy intake before being accepted onto the full 2023-2024 Academy intake.
Another Worcestershire Academy player in Alfie Higgins was dismissed for 11 batting at number three.
The South West were bowled out for 185 after being put into bat with Will James (5-24) taking the first five wickets to fall.
The Midlands will take on London-East in another 50 over contest on Tuesday (August 6).
