Worcestershire spinner, Josh Baker, is closing in on 50 wickets for Northern District CC this winter after another impressive performance in the New South Wales Premier Cricket encounter with Penrith CC.
The slow left armer took his tally to 45 with a return of 19-7-38-3 on the opening day of the two day fixture which will be completed next weekend.
In the Premier Cricket competition, Baker has taken 26 wickets at an average of 11.07 and an economy rate of just 2.1 runs per over.
His efforts were largely responsible for reducing Penrith to 127-6 from 51 overs on a shortened day.
He came on second change and dismissed Chris de Kretser (7), Brock Campbell (2) and Max Becker (5).
Ed Pollock was in action on Saturday and Sunday in two different competitions for St. George CC
He picked up two catches – including top scorer Nick Appleton (130) – on day one of the New South Wales Premier Cricket meeting with Campbelltown Campden CC who were bowled out for 281 in 88 overs.
Yesterday (Sunday) he was part of the St. George side which defeated Penrith CC to reach the semi-finals of the New South Wales Limited Overs Cup.
Pollock was dismissed for nine off eight balls after opening but four half centuries helped St. George to total 335-9 in 50 overs and they then skittled Penrith for 98 in 22.2 overs.
Adam Finch’s side, Sturt CC, are in a strong position at the half-way stage of their South Australia Cricket Association Premier Cricket meeting with Prospect CC.
Finch had figures of 5-1-8-0 after coming on first change as Prospect were bowled out for 72 in 32.5 overs and then Sturt raced to 269-2 from 54.5 overs by the close.
Ethan Brookes made 18 off 52 balls with two fours batting at number four as Prahran CC ended day two of their Victorian Premier Cricket encounter with Carlton CC on 248-7 from 80 overs in reply to their opponents 337-9.
Reeve Evitts hit a century for Keilor CC in their Victorian Turf Cricket Association Turner Shield triumph over Craigieburn played over two days this weekend.
The all-rounder struck 123 off 187 balls batting at number three with one six and 18 fours as Keilor totalled 305 from 79.5 overs on day one and then dismissed Craigieburn for 281 in 73.4 overs.
Joe Stanley bowled 9.2 tidy overs for 25 runs and scored 15 when opening as his side, Railways CC (105-8), defeated Royals CC (104 all out) by two wickets in a Albany and District Cricket Association A grade encounter.
Cameron Jones’ side, Collingwood Park, had a bye in the same competition.
