Two Worcestershire players selected for the 2024 Bunbury Festival impressed on the opening day of a warm-up fixture at Weetwood, Leeds.
Batter Alfie Higgins scored a half century and Jeet Varaich took the new ball and returned fine figures of 8-5-9-1.
They were playing for the Midlands against the North in a two dayer ahead of the main festival taking place at Loughborough in early August.
The North were put into bat and Varaich made the first breakthrough in the second over of his initial five over spell.
He returned for the 33rd over for a further three overs and again bowled accurately as the North were dismissed for 186 in 60 overs.
Higgins then made his mark batting at number three by making 57 off 71 balls with six boundaries.
He put on 81 for the third wicket with Midlands captain, Joshua Beer, before he was third out with the total 116.
The Midlands closed the day on 173-6 from 40 overs.
Higgins, Varaich and two other Worcestershire players in Lucian Brockman and Joe Porter, who picked up two catches in the North innings, have been chosen for the 2024 tournament.
